Markus Ruhmann is a Partner at our Hamburg office, leader of our Real Estate and Construction Law practice group and a member of our Compliance practice group.

As a certified specialist for real estate and construction law, he focuses on advising on all matters surrounding the real estate industry, thus covering the entire value chain of commercial real estate. He advises on the corporate, tax and financial aspects of setting up and structuring real estate projects as well as on planning and construction issues. He advises on cross-border transactions and on all aspects of his clients’ market entry.

He is an experienced specialist in all matters of public procurement, including public private partnerships. He advises public bodies and companies as well as bidders during public procurement procedures. When conflicts arise during the tendering processes, he represents the public and private sectors before the authorities and courts.

Markus Ruhmann is an experienced litigator and mediator. He represents his clients’ interests in and out of court. As a mediator, he assists parties in reaching an amiable settlement through negotiations, thus avoiding lengthy and costly court proceedings.

He has extensive experience in British-German commercial affairs and spent part of his legal training at an international law firm in the City of London. He is a member of the British-German Jurist Association. He is the Country Liaison Officer for the United Kingdom and is in charge of the firm’s London office.

Markus Ruhmann regularly gives lectures in his areas of specialisation and provides in-house training with regard to latest developments in the law.

In the ranking of Germany’s best lawyers, determined and published annually by the German Handelsblatt and the US publisher Best Lawyers, Markus Ruhmann is named as one of Germany’s best commercial lawyers of 2020 for real estate law.
