Dr. Gösta Schindler is a Partner at BUSE in Hamburg. He focuses on advising clients on questions of intellectual property law (patents, trademarks, design, know-how, copyrights, licenses) and competition law.
Dr. Schindler has vast experience in representing clients in IP-related litigation before German and European courts and administrative bodies. He advises start-ups, mid-size companies and large international corporations on questions of IP portfolio management, development, protection and commercialization, e.g. through licensing.
Through his work, Dr. Schindler has gained particular knowledge in the luxury and consumer-goods industry as well as in the areas of medical devices, mobile technologies and 3D printing.
With regard to competition law, Dr. Schindler supports clients from the conception of advertising campaigns to their roll-out. He defends clients against third-party attacks and acts of unfair competition by competitors.
Before joining BUSE, Dr. Schindler worked at a boutique law firm already specializing in IP and competition law; and thereafter at a U.S. firm where he focused on IP and competition law litigation. Dr. Schindler obtained his law degrees from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and IIT-Kent College of Law in Chicago, where he also lectured as a visiting associate professor for international trademark law and other courses. Moreover, he obtained a doctorate with a thesis on copyright licensing from the University of Münster.
As a lecturer at Bucerius Law School, Dr. Schindler holds workshops on international IP transactions as part of the annual Summer Program offered in cooperation with the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and WIPO, as well as a lecture on „Disruptive Technologies – Challenges for R&D Cooperations and Licensing and strategies to overcome them“.
