For over 25 years, Dr René-Alexander Hirth has been advising German and international clients on international dispute resolution as well as on the design and negotiation of international corporate projects and complex contracts. Dr René-Alexander Hirth mainly works on legal issues in the areas of corporate law, trade and distribution, R&D and commercialization of new technologies. Disputes and projects entrusted to Dr René-Alexander Hirth usually relate to multilateral R&D and cooperation agreements, M&A transactions, long term supply relations and licensing agreements. His industry focus is on mechanical and plant engineering as well as automotive and life sciences. Since the beginning of his practice in 1993, Dr René-Alexander Hirth has been specialized in projects in Asia and/or involving Asian parties.

In the area of dispute resolution, Dr René-Alexander Hirth’s clients are mainly multinational corporations and the German, internationally oriented mid-size corporations (Mittelstand). When drafting contracts, Dr René-Alexander Hirth generally assists mid-size corporations in the style of an external legal department for complex individual projects. In doing so, Dr René-Alexander Hirth benefits from his proven language proficiency as a publicly certified and sworn translator for English and German in Baden-Württemberg as well as from his qualification as an accredited specialist for international business law.

Dr René-Alexander Hirth conducts litigation and arbitration proceedings before national courts and arbitral tribunals. He is regularly appointed as an arbitrator as well. In arbitration, Dr René-Alexander Hirth maintains a track record of proceedings before the CIETAC, DIS, HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, Swiss Chambers und VIAC. He has a proven and reliable network of lawyers for cooperation in disputes and creative projects, in particular in all economic centres of Asia and Australia/New Zealand, who work closely together with him to protect and enforce clients’ interests. Dr René-Alexander Hirth frequently coordinates and supervises multinational proceedings and transactions as a principal client contact.

Dr René-Alexander Hirth is a trained business mediator (cvm) and, inter alia, a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (FSIArb). He practiced as a Foreign Registered Lawyer in Singapore for more than 10 years. He is culturally versed in interacting and successfully negotiating with members of many Asian ethnic groups. Dr René-Alexander Hirth does not only protect his clients’ legal interests, he also supports the successful closing of deals and helps to maintain future business relationships in the event of a dispute. As a former partner in large law firms, Dr René-Alexander Hirth knows their procedures and is therefore able to help his clients make proper assessments.

Parallel to his activities as a lawyer, Dr René-Alexander Hirth is a member of supervisory and advisory boards. He is a member of various international lawyers’ associations and a lecturer in international procedural law at a German university. Dr René-Alexander Hirth regularly gives talks and publishes on scientific topics in international litigation and arbitration as well as in legal transactions between Germany and Asia.

Since 2010, Dr René-Alexander Hirth has been regularly named in the annual publication JUVE Commercial Law Firms as “frequently recommended” in the areas of corporate law, trade and liability: legal proceedings, arbitration/mediation.
