Dr. Christina Berking is partner at the Hamburg office of BUSE and has been working as a lawyer in the field of intellectual property and copyright law since 2002.

Her practice focuses on art law. Dr. Berking heads the Art Law Practice Group of BUSE and, due to her double qualification as a lawyer and art historian, has the necessary proximity to the subject matter and special knowledge of the art market. She is the legal advisor of the Interessengemeinschaft Deutscher Kunsthandel and has closely accompanied the legislative process of the Kulturgutschutzgesetz. In addition to art dealers, auction houses and galleries, Dr. Berking represents numerous art collectors. She is a founding member of the Kunstsammlerverein and a member of its board. Her activities include the topics of the inheritance of art collections, restitution law, cultural property protection, artists’ social insurance and art insurance.

Dr. Berking is also active in the protection of intellectual property. As a licensed expert in the area of copyright and media law (‘Fachanwältin für Urheber- und Medienrecht’), Dr. Berking advises companies in all sectors on the use of creative, artistic and intellectual works. In addition, she supports her clients in matters of competition and trademark law.
